Hardwood Floor Installation
The installation of hardwood floors will surely improve the look and status of any home. The look of polished, stained or aged wood really gives a classical look to any room in the house. Hardwood floors are the preferred look for most stylish houses these days, as they do work in any part of the house. Even in areas where there water spills happen often, with but a regular dose of maintenance and care, your hardwood floors will always look beautiful throughout its years.
It is possible to install hardwood floors above or below grade. Hardwood can be installed on almost anything, including concrete slabs, subflooring, or even preexisting wooden floors.
Usually, the installation of hardwood floors begin with a vital part of the room. Areas like the fireplace determine where to start with the installation. Upon determining where to begin, chalk lines are laid down as reference points. For hardwood installations, there's usually an accompanying recommended underlayment from its manufacturer, which is installed over the plywood subfloor. Use the chalk lines to align your first row of boards. This creates something for the other boards to follow and ensure that they are installed straight.
Before installing your hardwood floors, you may test fit them first in sections. The test fitting of hardwood floors makes sure that all the points are staggered. Also follow the general rule that joints should be 12 inches apart at minimum. Once that is all set, all that is left to do is to blind nail tongue-and-groove boards in order to hide the fasteners. Boards may also be glued down, and some hardwood floors already come with adhesive strips on their underside.
